Teign Estuary Transition are holding a “star party” at Helen and Phil’s on Saturday evening for TET members. Tom Rickard will tell a star-themed story, and (if there’s no cloud!) Phil will give a short guided tour of the night sky for beginners.
This is our way of celebrating Earth Hour, which is an annual global event when people across the world turn off lights for one hour between 8.30 – 9.30 pm to celebrate the planet together and raise awareness of climate change. If you’re interested in becoming a member, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you could switch off your own lights and comment your ideas to this post. See the Earth Hour web site below for ideas.
The Transition Group is taking this opportunity to ask the Council about plans to switch off selected sections of Teignmouth’s street-lighting at night, to save money, save energy and cut down on light pollution.
