Pedal’n Pulse

Coming soon, Pedal’n Pulse, a celebration of cycling taking place in Teignmouth on 24 March 2018, coinciding with Earth Hour;

‘Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet and is organised by WWF engaging a massive mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues.  Earth Hour was famously started as a light-off event in Sydney Australia in 2007.  Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement.’ (See www.earthhour.org).

A Co-operative bank for the South-West?

THE VISION- “Imagine if there was a bank dedicated to the South West that put the welfare of its local communities before profits. A bank that helped local economies to grow by supporting all residents to upskill, regardless of their financial means. A bank that empowered people to grow their ideas into thriving local businesses. A bank that people trusted. What would Devon look like in twenty, or thirty years’ time?” Tony Greenham.

Tony Greenham is the Director of Economics at the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) and is giving a talk at the Courtney Centre in Newton Abbot, Thurs February 8th at 7.15 pm.  He will be talking about the economic and social case for regional banks, and explore the opportunities and challenges of creating a co-cooperative bank dedicated to the South West.

Dir. Mélanie Laurent and Cyril Dion, France, 118 mins, 2015
Subtitled

SHOWING TIMES:
Sun 24 Sep: 4pm
Tue 26 Sep: 6:15pm + post-screening Q&A

When the Journal Nature stated the possible extinction of a part of mankind before the end of the 21st century filmmakers Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent carried out an investigation to figure out what may lead to this disaster and above all how to avoid it.

During their journey, they met the pioneers who are re-inventing agriculture, energy, economy, democracy and education. Joining those concrete and positive actions, which are already working, they began to figure out what could be tomorrow’s world…

Showing solutions with affirmation and inspiration Demain may be the best way to solve the ecological, economical and social crises affecting the globe.

This screening is presented in partnership with Transition Exeter.
