“Best Before”: The London Food Revolution
After this, weather permitting, there will be a walk up to the community gardens in Eastcliff Park to celebrate our own bit of common land… so please join us.
All welcome and do please bring a contribution (in the form of cakes/biscuits etc.) to the shared tea.
The Tolpuddle Pilgrimage is a walk from Plymouth, Devon, to Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival, Dorset, from 10th – 19th July 2014 on the 180th anniversary of the arrest of the Tolpuddle Martyrs for organising against their worsening conditions and pay cuts.
Teign Community Composting (TCC)
March 22nd was celebrated by a keen group of gardeners who are initiating a Community Composting scheme in an area below Hazeldown School on the Cricket field. Having shared their vision with the Town Council and being fully supported by them, it was time to mark the layout and finally see the foot print of 18 months hard work in planning such an enterprise.
December in the Walled Garden
Autumn has been very gentle with us this year – the first of December and the leaves are only just falling from the mulberry and our solitary vine.
Elsewhere in the garden we’ve planted some early beans and early early peas – that is what they are called – but here we are clearing the raised beds at the bottom of the garden and weeding the new ones ready for the brassicas.
A very pleasant morning in the story of our demonstration of local food in a corner of a public park – do come and see us, 11 – 1 on Sunday mornings in the Walled Garden, Eastcliff Park, Teignmouth.
‘Insects and Gardens’ – a talk by Malcolm Scoble, Tues 19th November
Tuesday 19th November at 7.30pm ‘INSECTS AND GARDENS’ a talk by Malcolm Scoble at TAAG, Northumberland Place, Teignmouth. Light refreshments will be available.
At the community garden we are passionate about bugs and recently installed a pond to increase our attraction. Malcolm Scoble has kindly agreed to introduce us to their wonderful world (and ours).
Bookkeeper wanted
We have an exciting opportunity for a bookkeeper to join a small, dedicated group who, as a sub group of TET, are setting up a Community Composting Initiative in Teignmouth. It would be ideal for someone who wants a stimulating and on-going volunteering job that will lead to the ‘greening’ of Teignmouth and food security. No manual work is necessary. Please do email fhamilton25@gmail.com for further information.
