TAAG (Teignmouth Arts Action Group) are giving over their exhibition space in Northumberland Place to local voluntary groups. Teign Estuary Transition are there along with many other local groups and charities. Pop along to support us and see what else is going on in the local community!

Kings Fund report: Improving the public’s health

A report from the Kings Fund which is intended as a resource for local authorities. The reports pulls together evidence from successful interventions across key local authority functions about ‘what works’ for improving health and reducing health inequalities. It’s hugely encouraging to see how closely the key areas overlap with Transition principles.

Innovation challenge from Ordnance Survey

A competition for funding for ideas that use Ordnance Survey mapping data to encourage active lifestyles. They are “looking for great ideas which address the problems using geography, technology and good design”. Deadline 15th January so get your thinking caps on!

ePetition to support the Teign Estuary cycle trail

By getting 6000 signatures on a petition, Devon County Council can be required to debate this item and put it on their agenda. The e-petition is now live and you can sign using the following link:

The completion of the Trail is vital not only to create jobs and provide a much needed economic boost but also to develop a safe and healthy resource that walkers, nature lovers, families, young children, the disabled, the older generation and cyclists can use together for now and future generations.

Note that the on-line form asks for your address and then it also asks for Address Format. In this box just put your address again, please.

This petition can ONLY be signed by people who live, work or study in Devon.

Autumn Clothes Swap – update

The swap was a great success, with people delighted by their new outfits, and supporting the transition principles of recycling. The event raised awareness, and also raised £72 which will be used to cover costs and to help publicise future activities. The photos show our poster and Jacqui, Mary, Flo and Fran with some of the clothes.

‘Insects and Gardens’ – a talk by Malcolm Scoble, Tues 19th November

Tuesday 19th November at 7.30pm ‘INSECTS AND GARDENS’ a talk by Malcolm Scoble at TAAG, Northumberland Place, Teignmouth. Light refreshments will be available.

At the community garden we are passionate about bugs and recently installed a pond to increase our attraction. Malcolm Scoble has kindly agreed to introduce us to their wonderful world (and ours).
