Transition Town Totnes Film Festival – 9th through to the 12th March

I’m sure you have heard about the film festival happening in Totnes from 9 – 12th March.  It’s our 3rd year and there are so many exciting developments this year.
We are once again showing the film Demain and Rob Hopkins will be doing a Q/A at that screening on Friday evening.
We start the festival with a launch night full of music, film, laughter and memories as we look back at 10 years of TTT and forward to the festival and up and coming events.
We hope you will join us on Thursday 9th March for the launch and also come and see the amazing documentaries and events we have happening over the weekend. To include an evening of film, jazz and poetry with Alice Oswald and Andy Sheppard on Saturday called Conversations with the Wind.

Plastic bottle deposits

Every day in the UK, 35 million plastic bottles are used and discarded. Almost half of these are not recycled and many of them end up in our oceans – killing marine life and threatening fragile ecosystems.

Deposit return schemes work by placing a small deposit on a plastic bottle, which you get back when you return it.

The more bottles that are returned, the more can be re-used or recycled, reducing the amount that end up as litter, in our oceans and in landfill.

Here is a link to a petition by Greenpeace if you wish to get involved: https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/bottle-deposit-return-ef

TEDxExeter livestream now available in Teignmouth

The Pavilions Teignmouth: April 15th 9.15 am and 1.45 pm

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks delivered by today’s leading thinkers and doers. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience and TEDxExeter is Exeter’s leading ideas festival, back for the fifth year with an exceptional line up of speakers who are changing the world through their groundbreaking work and ideas.

Now more people will be able to watch TEDxExeter and discuss the talks they are hearing through a livestream of the event at The Pavilions Teignmouth.

The new Pavilions Teignmouth centre will show TEDxExeter as one of its first performances in its new guise. Tickets will be sold for two sessions, morning and afternoon: 9.15 am and 1.45 pm. The theatre will charge £5 for each session to cover its costs and tea or coffee.

Contact the box office by email: boxoffice@pavilionsteignmouth.org.uk or ring 01626 249049 for tickets.

This years theme is Dreams to Reality and includes a packed lineup of international speakers and inspirational guests. Speakers will explore themes of identity and radicalisation, re-imagine the world using a new set of maps and challenge how data is used. Human rights runs as a theme behind many of the talks, and speakers will also examine compassion and communication.

Photographs of previous TEDxExeter events are available to download from the TEDxExeter Flickr page. Click on individual pictures to see captions and picture credits.

The livestream is being organised by TET and TAAG (Teignmouth Arts Action Group) in association with Pavilions Teignmouth.
